Seeing yourself differently is often the first step to living the life you truly want to live.
Hi, I'm Debbie, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). My focus lies in mental health counseling for individuals and couples who may be having difficulty coping with life’s challenges. These challenges can include symptoms of depression, anxiety, panic disorder or bi-polar disorder; or challenges in personal or familial or marital relationships. I especially enjoy premarital counseling and feel that this is a vital vehicle that can enhance the marriage success.
What is Counseling?
Some of our deepest wounds and heartaches have occurred within a relationship. This realization alone can make considering counseling and choosing a therapist a difficult task. To develop any relationship requires trust, safety, and comfortability. And choosing a therapist for counseling is no different.
My Approach To Counseling
My approach to counseling is to create a safe environment for you to have a voice and to be heard. We will work together establishing trust and respect, being mindful of where you are currently; and then to offer encouragement and assistance to lead you to a path of wellness. My theoretical approaches are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, (CBT) and Family Systems. CBT simply defined is recognizing and changing thoughts to change the behavior. Family systems involves looking at historical patterns and behaviors within the family unit and the overall effect on the individual engaged in therapy.
What To Expect
Counseling is not advice giving. Counseling is not deciding for the client. Counseling with me provides a framework for increasing self-awareness (what am I doing?) and self-examining (why am I doing this?). Doing so, usually affords insight on how thoughts, emotions and behaviors are affecting relationships and to promote general emotional wellness.
The Counseling Journey
Counseling becomes most therapeutic when a person, no matter the age, is ready for change. Counseling can be beneficial to help examine and treat anxiety, depression, addictions, relationship distress, marital, premarital, affair recovery, communication problems, self-esteem, and boundaries to name a few!
Virtual Counseling
COVID19 changed many things. One of those was that both providers and patients became accustomed to virtual healthcare. I am happy to provide virtual sessions to clients who find it more comfortable or convenient to attend sessions from their home.

What Our Clients Are Saying
We are doing so great! Our communication is better than it’s ever been. Our daughter is doing great & life is so good right now. You were a HUGE blessing during the nightmarish time that really turned our marriage around.
“I am a measured and deliberate, albeit decisive, man. I came to Debbie’s office at an incredibly traumatic and broken time in my life. I had experienced decades of trauma and was at a crucible point in my marriage and life, almost every move was consequential as to what would be formed. Debbie provided a very comfortable and free area to talk. I can’t emphasize how comfortable and open. This freedom to be open, and honest coupled with God centered and concrete suggestions led me down the path of new beginnings. I knew form her first biblical prayer that I was where God wanted me. I will never be able to repay the help she gave me, and will forever be grateful for the hours of help.”
Debbie is helping our family through the grief of losing our 18 year old son, along with anxiety, depression and bringing our family back together. I am so thankful for her wisdom and insight. We are beginning to heal as a family, instead of each trying to go our own way. She is a very compassionate person and is committed to helping people work through their problems. We thank God for sending her to us. We would highly recommend her as a counselor/therapist!
After experiencing several major life changes within a few short months, I began to have what I thought was serious physical health issues. During a visit to my primary physician, he recommended I make an appointment with Debbie. At the time, I honestly was not sure how she could help with all the symptoms I was having. What I shockingly learned after only one session with Debbie was I was battling anxiety. Debbie has helped me discover the roots of my anxiety, recognize my triggers and help equip me with the tools I need to get through times of anxiety. I am so deeply grateful for Debbie and the tremendous impact she has made on my life.
